Masthead ideas

All Masthead Ideas:

The masthead of a magazine is the most important factor of the magazine which by just looking at the magazine the audience are already drawn towards the name making it the major convention of the magazine also the central image which catches the eye of the readers whilst purchasing.

- The bullet point near the word, represents the one in which I'm going to decide between and use for my music magazine. The word will be in different fonts produced below and I will select the one I like the most. All the words I've chosen are mostly linked to the magazine in which I've studied.

Atmosphere
Bliss
  • Diverse
  • Dreamland
Paradise
Beyond
Eternity
Enchantment

  • This design for the masthead with a sharp serif style to the font, creates a real eye catching and bold type face for a magazine. The colour is also very neutral and simplistic, while the style being thin and connected together makes the font stand out. The first Diverse is a very similar resemblance to the Wonderland masthead i was going for, with a hidden fade towards the bottom of the letters i really like the font of Franklin Gothic for the Front cover and the drop shadow produced as a silhouette for the masthead makes the title more visible and more dimension.
  • This Arial Black font that I decided to try was inspired by the same font style as the magazine I've been researching which is called Wonderland Magazine with is a simple and basic style that still manages it capture the whole magazine and stand out with it's bold typeface, it's different compared to this font however, there are similarities with the "e" although its a more thicker font the overall design goes.
  • The second design with the back solid background on the font is a relation to the first Wonderland magazine that I analysed, I tried to get the similar style to the existing magazine with the word I choose to create a link towards the research I collected. The connection of the font and the distinct similarities to the original permit me to use this style for my music magazine genre.

  • This more handwritten style font for the word "Dreamland" creates that more flexible and everlasting vibe to the word that is linked to fantasy and the more fluent flow of the design. The "D" of dreamland is shorter towards the "l" and the other "d" but the gap of the words show a connection and links towards each other making the word very clear to read and see what it says.
  • The Calligraphy of the handwriting generates the more dream like aspect of the word and captures the meaning, whilst connecting the words together shows the endless concept of a dream and the extended swirls show the more free and lifeless use of the font.
