LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK, WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL PRODUCT?

THE MASTHEADS.

The mastheads for both magazine are both different in many concepts for instance, the preliminary task i went to have a more sophisticated approach for the masthead using as more fancy style of text and composition of where the words where placed for example, the "our" is a more elegant aspect towards the masthead than the other fonts and the future is a more similar font compared to the music magazine font that i went for, for " "Diverse" also, the preliminary for having the website on the front magazine also made the magazine a more formal for the idea of a college magazine and from that i decided to apply my website on the contents page of my music magazine to be a less disruption towards the image and also, to be seen more. The faded approach of the word "magazine" on the preliminary task is a more solid within the beginning and slowly disappears towards the end this effect however, made it difficult to be visible on top of the CVI in the front cover. The bolder aspect on the full product makes the magazine and the outer glow makes the back image more noticeable and the affect is a better fading aspect to use making me use that in the actual product from the mistake i learnt in the preliminary task. The concept i used for the music magazine was inspired from an existing product "Wonderland" and the simplicity of the font and the less disruption but the visible outcome of the masthead makes the whole front cover more eye catching as the whole typeface is in capitals, i made that conclusion from the "future" of the preliminary task is the main aspect to stand out for the magazine and creates a stronger font and visual perspective compared to having lower caps for instance, the magazine part. The difference of the masthead is that the preliminary has a longer masthead and its very continuous font, however, the music magazine has a catchy and one word approach to the magazine making it more useful and noticeable to the target audience as the word itself means "different" and being different for the genre and the audience isn't a bad aspect but something that makes the person who they are.

Throughout the whole process of constructing my media product, I have learnt a great amount of technology, which has equipped me with greater ICT skills for the future. These particular skills are incredibly useful as well, especially within the media industry in particular. Within this Prezi presentation, there is a considerable amount of technologies I have used, thereby expanding my knowledge of these:

I believe I used limited techniques in order or attract my audience.

First and foremost, during the planning and researching process of my magazine, I created and sent out a questionnaire to a wide range of people including questions which I could not necessarily find out by simply looking at other existing magazines. This questionnaire acted as a stimulus for most of my decision-making, especially when planning what features, images and language I was to include in my front cover, contents page and DPS in order to attract as well as address my audience and subsequently leading to its professionalism.

WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

This information gave me a specific idea about who my target audience will be.

Demographic:

My magazine is mainly aimed towards young adults around the age of 16-30. They will most likely be students/ young professionals from a working class, who are able to pay the affordable price of £2.99 per week for each magazine as they have some disposable income.  In reference to the general registrar scale, they will be likely to be within the BC3 margin, and will have junior professions, as well as still being part time in education. The target audience will be educated and have an enthusiastic interest in music, especially music artists/bands included within my magazine, such as The 1975, Lana Del Rey, The Arctic Monkeys, Halsey and more.  It also shows that my target market does consists of unisex readers but more particularly towards females, as evinced in my music magazine questionnaire responses, as the colour scheme seems to be more linked towards a female audience than males. The target audience will be more interested towards going to live concerts and gigs which the well-known bands/ artists such as The 1975 will be playing at, which suggests that the working class status they will be in will allow them to have some income to purchase the magazine itself whilst going to hear them live. As the majority of the music consists of bands there will be mentioned throughout the magazine mostly. My house style could also appeal to males for the black and white aspect but more on the female side for the light pink colour scheme.
Geographic:

My magazine is especially targeted towards an audience in the UK. The concert which I have advertised are for venues within the UK for example, The Brixton O2 Academy as the readers will be familiar with. Even though most of the artists/bands are known all over the globe and the majority of them mentioned are american Many of the artists within the magazine are also UK based for example, The 1975, The neighbourhood, Arctic Monkeys, Paramore, which are influencing the new sound to the music genre. Moreover, these bands will be more appealing to a slightly younger audience who will be more familiar with bands such the Arctic Monkeys.
Psycho-graphic:

In reference to Young & Rubicam, my readers will more likely be a mix of aspirers, succeeders and main-streamers as they will be able to buy my magazine for the amount which is £2.99. They would also be inspired by some popular styles or brands of clothing worn by the artists they aspire from for instance, ripped jeans and other highly fashionable clothing worn by one specific artist for example, Lana Del Rey would inspire them to also wear that particular item. However, they will also be likely to attend gigs and concerts and generally enjoy attending live music performances as a social activity to be more involved within the industry of music and feel the music upfront then just listening to it.
CORE PROPOSITION: "Music is a "DIVERSE" feeling in Pop-Rock genre."

These are the bands/artists i have mentioned which my audience would be inspired by and listen to. The bands in particular are extremely popular in the music genre and are very well-known in the UK. They are really successful for their Pop-Rock/Rock style, which is very appropriate for my target audience. The two female artists are also well-known however, they are both American and i was really inspired by the confident female role for the aspect of my own magazine and the use of the "Leather Jacket" where i purposely added to link towards this specific images.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

During the planning and the researching stage for my magazine, I have conducted a lot of research into the dissimilar institutions and ideologies of music magazines, which i could involve here to when considering which media institution could distribute my media product.

HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

In my shoot i used a model of 17 years of age, however for the female model I changed her age and said she is 21 years old. This is because through my research I found that the  some young female artists tend to start song-writing at the age of 17 and becoming famous at a higher age and becoming more known at the ages of 21 making me automatically said that specific age as the younger target audience will be more inspired by the young talent through her early years of success. Therefore I could not keep his real age as this wouldn't be realistic.I did not go for an older age because my target audience are 16-30 years old, therefore they need someone who they can related to, and for the younger audience they will be able to look up to him as their idol or want to look like him.  This links to Carl Rogers or Jacques Lacan‘s theory the ideal-partner, or ideal-ego.

To commence the masthead/logo of my music magazine is "Diverse". I decided with this name to go towards the target audience as they are unique and different of the type of music they listen to and the use of the many sound show a distinct sound and genre within my magazine. This instantly allows people to have an idea that this relates to audience who like different and touching music, which they can relate to. Through the use of a medium shot of the model making immediate eye contact towards the target audience creates a more power and independent stereotype of women and how they aren't usually represented. The mise-en-scene of the image also represents my social group. For instance, the leather jacket and the hair colour of the artist links towards the dissimilar view of how females are perceived as she's different towards the more average type of young females. the costume that the artist is wearing is a direct link towards the other magazines which i have researched and looked into which are of the same genre. As this type of style is universal and most common in any type of gender and is more relate-able to this genre specifically. Another element is the lighting, which is a connection towards the house-style and the colour of the artists hair whilst, combining to the artists stage name "Pink Bliss", her position and pose shows a more sophisticated side to the artist whilst, creating a more serious aspect to her personality. Her position with her hand on her leather jacket shows a more comfortable upcoming which is already in her element from her calm perspective, also, the more obvious and not exaggerate clothing it shows the more chilled personality she has.

The image that I've used in my contents page shows the other representation and social group i was going for which was a more lively, fun, lead back perspective to the model. I applied this image to show the more fun side compared to the front cover image. Furthermore, the use of the Julia putting her hand on her hair whilst, her belly slightly showing shows that more careless aspect towards the new talent and a more causal posture to show another side to the artist. Although, it shows a more comfortable image of her being herself in the photo shoot as for the more free composition of her hands through her hair and the other hand beneath her stomach holding onto her jeans shows a more "sexy" characteristic towards the artist whilst, combining to impression of her being free as she is showing some of her skin and fun for slightly smiling and not really interested at looking into the camera but rather be in her own state of mind and block her surroundings out. The whole mise-en scene of the model and the house style of the product does represent a certain female audience however, from my research "Pink" has become a universal popular colour now for instance, on a social media site "Tumblr" the use of this colour symbolises this "cute"aesthetics, the use of this colour has changed and is more becoming a misfit/hipster aspect however, the main colour for this specific group would be "black" as most of the artists clothing is and goes towards the stereotype of these specific genres.

The Creation of My Double Page Spread

                                                                                                   STEP 1:
In the beignning process of my Double page spread i got the measurements of two noamal sheets which match the measurements of the magazine i going to create. I then placed the two page spreads next to each other to make a double page spread and to see when i will place my image and the other page is for the article and the text.
In t
STEP 2: This is the layout and planning of the Double page spread and what i want the layout to look like inspired my wonderland magazine. I placed the image i wanted which was the artist with a mic as she's an upcoming artist and a music lover which is evident from the image and her posture whilst, looking towards the audience. The planning of the words and the article was to have sections of the interview in different areas with a description of the artist and some quote she said during the interview placed somewhere in the article were it can be visible and in quote form.
Thu

STEP 3:The idea of the Headline was firstly, inspired by the Headline of the Double page spread I've previously researched "Dream Lover" in this first draft of the Headline i went for alliteration in the words "Aspiring Artist" which i thought was a catching and eye catching representation of the artist and was placed well within the image. However,  i then thought of "Music Lover" which made the layout and produced the text on the leather jacket to be more noticeable and say "Photographer Stefanie Inacio
TO
Fashion Designer Cristina Miller" i made this to be placed within the image to have a more authentic aspect towards the image and the double page spread. Music Lover in this composition made the text more fitting and the way the words are positioned also, are different compared to the first draft making me chose this layout instead as i believe its more represented through the image I've chosen
and the text is in a better position as its towards
the side of the photograph and further away from
the image making it more simple and less distracting.
STEP 5:The different fonts i used to create the "M" and the "L" were different compared to the whole text to create that similar aspect shown within the other double page spread and the serif font creates a more sophisticated approach of the words and the whole font concept showing the contrast between the simplicity and the more formal font style. In the article layouts i found that the double page can be in a lot of various article compositions so i wanted to be very observant and take my time whilst, choosing the right one in the final outcome and seeing the different ways i could place the words together and the way the article would flow from one place to the other.

Final Design for The Double Page Spread.

Improvements :
From the article layouts you can see the small differences i applied to the double page spread for instance, i touched the page up with page number which i forgot to add, this creates a more reliable outcome whilst, making the double page spread more convincing as as a music magazine whilst, in all three i added the date to them all and placed that issue and the name of the magazine at the bottom part of the magazines article side of the double page spread which is also, placed on the content page.

The Construction of the Content Page

First Draft.

STEP 1: In this first draft of the content page I decided to go with the conventions of the layout of Billboard’s content page with the same outlines underneath the title and the outline beneath the main bigger image and the artist also produced on the front cover of the magazine.

The image was adjusted and done on Photoshop where I took out the background and smoothen the edges of the image; the image could be placed higher and bigger to capture the whole side of the content page. This Second attempt would be a more advanced content page with the image enlarged as if leaning onto the side of the page
