Evaluation 2

HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT REPRESENT PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

In my shoot i used a model of 17 years of age, however for the female model I changed her age and said she is 21 years old. This is because through my research I found that the  some young female artists tend to start song-writing at the age of 17 and becoming famous at a higher age and becoming more known at the ages of 21 making me automatically said that specific age as the younger target audience will be more inspired by the young talent through her early years of success. Therefore I could not keep his real age as this wouldn't be realistic.I did not go for an older age because my target audience are 16-30 years old, therefore they need someone who they can related to, and for the younger audience they will be able to look up to him as their idol or want to look like him.  This links to Carl Rogers or Jacques Lacan‘s theory the ideal-partner, or ideal-ego.

To commence the masthead/logo of my music magazine is "Diverse". I decided with this name to go towards the target audience as they are unique and different of the type of music they listen to and the use of the many sound show a distinct sound and genre within my magazine. This instantly allows people to have an idea that this relates to audience who like different and touching music, which they can relate to. Through the use of a medium shot of the model making immediate eye contact towards the target audience creates a more power and independent stereotype of women and how they aren't usually represented. The mise-en-scene of the image also represents my social group. For instance, the leather jacket and the hair colour of the artist links towards the dissimilar view of how females are perceived as she's different towards the more average type of young females. the costume that the artist is wearing is a direct link towards the other magazines which i have researched and looked into which are of the same genre. As this type of style is universal and most common in any type of gender and is more relate-able to this genre specifically. Another element is the lighting, which is a connection towards the house-style and the colour of the artists hair whilst, combining to the artists stage name "Pink Bliss", her position and pose shows a more sophisticated side to the artist whilst, creating a more serious aspect to her personality. Her position with her hand on her leather jacket shows a more comfortable upcoming which is already in her element from her calm perspective, also, the more obvious and not exaggerate clothing it shows the more chilled personality she has.

The image that I've used in my contents page shows the other representation and social group i was going for which was a more lively, fun, lead back perspective to the model. I applied this image to show the more fun side compared to the front cover image. Furthermore, the use of the Julia putting her hand on her hair whilst, her belly slightly showing shows that more careless aspect towards the new talent and a more causal posture to show another side to the artist. Although, it shows a more comfortable image of her being herself in the photo shoot as for the more free composition of her hands through her hair and the other hand beneath her stomach holding onto her jeans shows a more "sexy" characteristic towards the artist whilst, combining to impression of her being free as she is showing some of her skin and fun for slightly smiling and not really interested at looking into the camera but rather be in her own state of mind and block her surroundings out. The whole mise-en scene of the model and the house style of the product does represent a certain female audience however, from my research "Pink" has become a universal popular colour now for instance, on a social media site "Tumblr" the use of this colour symbolises this "cute"aesthetics, the use of this colour has changed and is more becoming a misfit/hipster aspect however, the main colour for this specific group would be "black" as most of the artists clothing is and goes towards the stereotype of these specific genres.
